Is eBay Headed For Extinction?

AuctionBytes recently interviewed
Jeff Jordan, one of the original executives from
eBay's golden age.

Jeff Jordan joined eBay in 1999, and
was expected to replace Meg Whitman
as CEO.

While there has been plenty of negative
news in the media concerning eBay's
lackluster holiday performance,
the former eBay executive still has plenty
of optimism.

Overall he feels that eBay is headed in the
right direction, and although changes could be
made, he understands that changes in a large
organization need to be made slowly to ensure
successful adaptation.

One of his few regrets regards eBay's lack of service
related auctions.

He would have liked to have seen more of a focus
on attracting service providers.

In other words, attracting lawyers, accountants,
painters, and so on, to auction their professional
services on eBay.

As of now, that market is dominated by sites
such as Guru.com and Elance.com

eBay sellers can tap into this market by offering their
services on eBay, through the same process used
by product sellers on eBay.

The market for services on eBay is untapped,
and awaits the eager service entrepreneur.
