eBay has reported a decrease in traffic over the holiday period.
This decrease in traffic has been a continuing development since the replacement of Meg Whitman, by the current chief executive, John Donahoe.
While the holiday season should represent an especially strong sales period for eBay, there has actually been a decline in completed auctions and site visits.
In line with the deteriorating economy, eBay seems to be suffering as well.
But before you abandon eBay, be assured that it is still an efficient sales channel for your wholesale products.
Keep the following in mind.
Even with the decrease in traffic and sales, eBay still has over 125 million registered users,
clearly making it the largest online market place in the world.
I am sure you would agree that even if the number of registered users decreased by 16%, as reported by The Wall Street Journal, you are still looking at an enormous market for your products.
But if the traffic is slowing down on eBay, and there are less people making purchases, are you wondering how you will be able to sell your products?
eBay Selling Tip For Tough Times #1
Offer free shipping. Customers love free shipping since it saves them money.
In slow times everyone needs more money, and will look for any decent savings,
even if it’s just a few dollars.
eBay Selling Tip For Tough Times #2
Free gift wrap.
People love buying gifts for their relatives, friends, and coworkers. Show them that your
product can make a great gift, by offering to gift wrap it for free.
An item that might not have been considered as a gift, will now be viewed in a different light.
eBay Selling Tip For Tough Times #3
Start your auctions at $1.
Sure, you are taking a chance of selling your products too cheaply, but in the long run you will attract more bidders to your auctions. An increase in bidders competing for your products will result in higher bids for your eBay products.
